Fall fell in Ontario And it seems like so few days ago That the poplar blossoms fell like snow On the beach at the end of Cherry Road The sand is coarse And the water's cold There's no one here No lifeguard on patrol But I woke up and just had to go To the beach at the end of Cherry Road
'Cause in its wreckage and rubble And all that broken glass I'll find a stone that I can throw And I'll find some peace and take A handful home Of the beach at the end of Cherry Road
There's no news here There are no radios They've got no idea These few seagulls That's why I came here I suppose To the beach at the end of Cherry Road
Fall fell in Ontario And I've found myself A skipping stone That I will throw then work my Way back home From the beach at the end of Cherry Road
'Cause in its wreckage and rubble And all that broken glass I'll find a stone that I can throw And I'll find some peace and take A handful home Of the beach at the end of Cherry Road
Yes I'll find some peace and take A handful home... Of the beach at the end of Cherry Road

I'm still catching up on stuff as I've been offline since Wednesday night, but you remember that show we were trying to remember the name of at Fearing's show on Thursday? I just looked it up through Marton Csokas' IMDB.com page - it's Farscape ;)

(On the off chance that anyone's curious about the combination, I was named after my mom's favourite uncle(in law) and her favourite aunt (and no, they weren't husband and wife - he was married to my great-aunt Jean) - and had I been a boy I would've been either Dennis Andrew or Andrew Dennis (same uncle, and my dad))

"The Great Hall" - Mike Ford |

The Stars Shone on Toronto
When you live in a town of this size you get short-changed by evening skies And forget about the dazzling display Of that great eternal firmament that I always that we were meant To see at the dark end of each day But the smog and the lights from the buildings, roads and cars Make you disbelieve there ever was a night That the stars shone on Toronto
When the sun baked hot on an August day, our cherished AC went away Disappeared in a chain reaction Total Chaos said the news that night, the Mayor said silence gave him fright And we prioritized in a whole new fashion With the coins we found around the house in jars Would we buy batteries or beer for the night That the stars shone on Toronto
So kids played out in their front yards, and on porches folks played chess and cards And laughter was the substitute For a million home entertainment rooms and x-boxes silent in the gloom PlayStations finally mute And they lit candles in the windows and the balconies and in the bars And we ate a lot of melting ice cream the night That the stars shone on Toronto
A funny man directed traffic at Main and Kingston Road And in a bar on Roncesvalles young boys sang old country odes And we climbed up on a roof And a thousand distant stars glowed
So when you live in a town with everything you find yourself wondering Does it have to be so fast and on the make In a flash the answer's within reach as you find yourself at Cherry Beach And go swimmin' in a big forgotten lake And you say "could we take a day every now and then And live a little more like people way back when On summer nights when the sky could be your friend" So you close your eyes, sit back and pretend
That the moon, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, and Mars Can touch you with the magic like the night When the stars shone on Toronto
Yes the stars shone on Toronto....

"Terminal" - The Supers (in head) |
] |
In other news, the 'rents are coming up to visit two weeks from tomorrow, and the "oh my God have to get the apt cleaned up NOW!" urgency hasn't set in yet... I'd decided to spread things out so I wouldn't have to be up till some ungodly hour on the 26th cleaning, but all I've succeeded in doing so far is finishing some of the crochet projects next to my computer desk and cleaning up the bathroom a little ;) They're also going to be bringing up a new (well, new to me, it's my sister's old one) computer with them, and the thought of all the shit I have to get off this one is slightly intimidating *G* I haven't got an answer yet from Sympatico about whether I can just copy what's here onto the new puter or whether I have to find the cd again, so I'll be mailing them again over the weekend and see if I can get an answer... so if I'm not on the weekend of the 27th at all, that's why ;)
They finally trained us on the cheque encoder at work, and so far so good in regards to stuff working - the real test will be next month when all the registration fees cheques start coming in from the schools *snicker* I know where I'll be spending most of September - in front of the encoder - since they won't need me at the processing centre (Sept is a shitload of bills and cheques, and those Rose Marie and Lenore can handle by themselves). Sylvia, Kathy and I have been joking about the night shift possibilities (Kathy says she'll work nights if she can come in in her track pants and slippers *snicker*), but I may seriously ask if I can listen to my discman while I'm encoding, normal hours or not - after all, the encoder is back in the counting room, and no one'd be able to hear it anyway ;) ( aradia13, I'm already having visions of encoding to "Terminal", though I'm punching in numbers and not names *lol*)
Anyone feel like talking me out of seeing Bourne Supremacy for a third time? I'm seriously considering it ;)

Okay, today I got this letter in the mail from an insurance broker:
Dear Madam:
Please be advised that we are the insurers of the above-mentioned insured(s) involved in a motor vehicle accident on February 28, 2004, wherein damage was occasioned as a result of your negligence.
May this letter serve as our notice to you of our intention to make a claim for damages and in particular a claim for prejudgement interest pursuant to provincial legislation.
If you are insured, we would suggest that you forward this letter to your insurance company, requesting that they contact us.
If you are not insured, please contact our analyst, (analyst's name), by dialing directly (phone number). When doing so, please refer to file number (file number).
(Analyst's name) Claims Services
There are a few things VERY wrong with this:
1) I DON'T OWN A CAR - and never have. As I said when I called the guy and got his voicemail (after telling him I had no idea what this was about), "I think I would remember being involved in a motor vehicle accident since I don't own a car" He could try to claim that it was a rental car, but since I haven't rented since FRFF 2002, that might be a small problem! Not to mention I sure as hell didn't have the money to rent a car in Feb (fuck, I barely had March rent money at the end of Feb!) - and I'd be more than willing to bring my bank statements, bankbook and credit card bill to prove it!
2)The address given as the "location of loss" was the neighbour to the right of me - in the DRIVEWAY. First of all, I'd only be going that way if I was *walking* home from work at the counting location.. which I sure as hell wouldn't be doing on a Saturday in February! Secondly, what the hell would I be doing in the guy's driveway, given that their driveway is on the opposite side of the house from my door? I walk on *our* driveway to get to my apt door, which is a double one shared with #65, NOT #69.
3)This isn't wrong, but Chrissy brought up a good point - how the fuck did the insurance company get my name? My phone number shows up in the book as A (Mylastname)! If I find out that the couple who lives downstairs gave this guy my name instead of hers (they have two vehicles, so I'm beginning to think that the insurance company might be looking for them) I'm going to be SEVERELY PISSED!!!!
On a more cheerful note, I finally rented Master & Commander - good movie :) I'm wondering though, in the version you buy, are there extra features? The rental copy had language selection and scene selection, but the "inside look" was trailers, no bonus stuff at all :(
